New ELF Studio Stipple Brush Review

So, last week I visited the E.L.F. website to see what was new. Boy, they’ve been busy like well……elves. So many new things. The few things I have been wanting to try are; the studio cream eyeshadow, studio matte loose eyeshadow, studio angled contour brush, studio tinted moisturizer, Makeup mist and set, essentials eye crease brush and the studio stipple brush.

Unfotunately most of these new items were already sold out. Fortunately they did have a few things to order, so what could I do? I hauled, yay!

Elf haul, with new stipple brush

I got some of the new Shimmer eyeliner pencils, a  Brightening Eye color quad in silver lining, 2 essentials crease brushes, and a Studio Stipple Brush. The eyeshadow arrived dammaged, the case was all cracked, and the 2 crease brushes had stray hairs that were longer than the rest.

What I was really excited about though was the new Studio Stipple Brush:

MAC 187 is on the top and ELF stipple brush is on the bottom:

Elf stipple brush is on the left and MAC 187 is on the right.

As you can see in the photo, the hairs on the ELF Studio stipple brush are a tiny bit longer and skinnier than the MAC 187, and the diameter in quite a lot smaller. This makes it “floppier” than the MAC brush, and less dense. If you look at the photo on the top, you can see that the brush looks almost grey, it is not grey, you can just see more of the white fibres, there seems to be more white fibres per black than the MAC 187. Also, the ELF brush is very soft, even softer than the MAC 187. I haven’t had a chance to try it out using foundation to compare it with the MAC yet, but as soon as I do, I’ll let you know.

Review to follow on the shimmer eyeliner pencil, and the essential crease brush.

  1. Hi Jo,

I agree! I love the ELF stipple brush. I use mine for finishing powder. I bought extras for gifts during the birthday sale. I thought I would pair them with the complexion brushes I got for free and give those along with a sifter of my finishing powder for holiday gifts.

    Great blog!
